App.net Releases a Free Tier

App.net has released a free tired version of the relatively new service. The freemium tier of the network does however include certain restrictions compared to paid members including;
- Free tier accounts can follow a maximum of 40 users
- Free tier accounts have 500 MB of available file storage
- Free tier accounts can upload a file with a maximum size of 10 MB
To get a freemium account you must be invited by a current paid user of the service.
Users in return have been given an incentive to invite users to the service, with each referral earning you and the user signing up an extra 100mb of storage providing that the following goals are achieved.
- The invited member follows at least 5 other accounts
- The invited member authorizes a third-party app
