Brand Consistency on YouTube

YouTube can be a great tool for businesses, but with loads of companies putting themselves out there, it’s important to make sure your brand remains as strong on the video platform as it does on your website and other social media channels.
Aside from being able to skin your YouTube channel, did you also know that you can make your thumbnails look a bit more appetising to potential viewers of your channel? By default YouTube will automatically generate three different thumbnails to chose from based on stills from the video – these are the pictures you’ll see included in the links to the video when they’re shown in search results etc. Well, you can take this one step further by using custom thumbnails.
With just a little bit of time you can quickly brand up your content, meaning that your YouTube videos shine ever so bright against the competition and become much more prominent when appearing within search results. Below shows the video feed belonging to the tech news website The Verge. By adding the footer to the image stills their videos become instantly recognisable.
Not only does the thumbnail appear on the YouTube website, it also gets used as the preview for embedded contents. For instance take the video below; you can see the branding is automatically applied without any additional coding or settings being applied.
This is a great method of pushing your branding out there not only onto YouTube but also onto any third party sites which maybe sharing your videos.
