Last month saw Instagram.com get a long overdue refresh to its web platform. With the app being constantly updated the web platform hasn’t seen any visible updates since its initial creation, leaving it feeling a tad abandoned by its owners Facebook.
Essentially the design has changed, new functionality hasn’t really appeared whilst the user feed and profiles have both have had a revamp which brings them inline with their iOS & Android apps.
However as per my previous blog, clickable hash tags have appeared, which is promising. I can’t see Instagram enabling an upload tool for adding photos via the web as the platform lends itself to mobile devices. However functionality such as search being brought to the web platform would certainly give it a purpose and make it easier to discover content when your not accessing the service via mobile device.
