We were delighted to be asked back to the National Festival of Making to cover live-blogging and on-the-go social media activities on behalf of Creative Lancashire this June.
Across 3 days, the annual National Festival of Making takes place in Blackburn, celebrating all that is great and good about making in the UK, be that on the factory floor or your bedroom floor! A combination of events including round-tables, workshops, art installations, talks and more, there are hundreds of things for families, tourists, locals and creatives to get stuck into across the city.
Our job was to spread the message further. Using social media, we took what was happening in Blackburn, and amplified it.
Why? To show off how great creating and making is, especially here in Lancashire, (our home county!). It also meant people who couldn’t make events could still be included; they could follow discussions amongst the prestigious panellist and contributors from anywhere in the world.
On the ground for the full three days of the event, we helped to shine a light on the wonderful things that were going on in Blackburn. We skyrocketed the impressions on Twitter to an increase of over 800% from the month prior, gained over 320% more profile visits and lifted mentions by over 150%.
It’s not the first time we’ve worked on event social media for Creative Lancashire; we’ve helped them put bums on seats at The BIG Conference, more than once, and we’ve covered the National Festival of Making before, too (both pre and during). Creative Lancashire is a wonderful initiative by Lancashire County Council to offer dedicated support to the creative industries in the county, and if you’re not involved with them already, you really ought to be.
The National Festival of Making has already confirmed it’s coming back to Blackburn next year – you’ll find it taking over the town again on the 6th and 7th June 2020!
(P.S – this isn’t the first time we’ve worked on a project shouting about how bloomin’ great Lancashire is. See the promotional film we created with Marketing Lancashire featuring Freddie Flintoff, here!)Read next A Refreshed Twitter.com
